Lahore, January 8, 2026 – Punjab Emergency Services Department (Rescue 1122) responded to 1009 road traffic crashes across 37 districts in the last 24 hours, resulting in 10 fatalities and 1,137 injuries. Of the injured, 452 sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals, while 685 with minor injuries received on-site treatment from Rescue medical teams, reducing the burden on healthcare facilities.
Motorcycles accounted for 70% of the accidents, highlighting the need for strict adherence to traffic laws and lane discipline. The affected included 672 drivers, 45 underage drivers, 335 passengers, and 140 pedestrians. Lahore reported the highest number of crashes with 198 incidents affecting 225 people, followed by Faisalabad with 79 accidents and 95 victims, and Multan with 68 accidents and 65 victims.
In terms of demographics, 972 men and 175 women were affected, including 156 children under 18, 658 aged 18–40, and 333 over 40. Vehicles involved included 997 motorcycles, 85 auto-rickshaws, 149 cars, 26 vans, 17 buses, 33 trucks, and 124 other vehicles.
