Islamabad: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted nine operations across the country, leading to the arrest of five accused and the seizure of 258.94 kilograms of narcotics worth over Rs 244.8 million, officials said on Monday.
Operations near educational institutions and in major cities resulted in the recovery of ice, heroin, opium, hashish and Valium tablets. In Multan, two kilograms of ice were recovered from an accused who confessed to supplying drugs to students. International interdictions at courier offices and airports in Lahore led to the seizure of ice and Valium consignments destined for Saudi Arabia, Dubai and the United Kingdom.
Domestic and inter-provincial actions in Peshawar, Kohat, Islamabad and Quetta resulted in major recoveries, including 198 kilograms of heroin. Cases have been registered under the CNSA 1997 and investigations are underway, an ANF spokesperson said.
