IG Sindh Orders Tight Security for Shab-e-Mairaj

Strict directives to enhanced security around mosques, imambargahs, shrines, graveyards, and other worship places, with strict screening at entry and exit points

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police Sindh, Javed Alam Odho, has directed comprehensive and effective security arrangements across the province on the occasion of Shab-e-Meraj.

He ordered enhanced security around mosques, imambargahs, shrines, graveyards, and other worship places, with strict screening at entry and exit points, increased mobile patrolling, and special focus on sensitive locations. Plainclothes police will monitor suspicious activity, while on-duty personnel will be equipped with safety gear.

The IG directed a complete ban on the display and carrying of weapons at public places, strict enforcement of the Loudspeaker Act, and high alert for the Bomb Disposal Squad. He emphasized effective use of intelligence and threat alerts under the National Action Plan.

Traffic authorities in Karachi and Hyderabad were instructed to implement special traffic and parking plans, ensure smooth flow through alternate routes, and keep control rooms fully functional at division, zone, and district levels.
