Chaman, January 17 — The All Chaman Dairy Association held an emergency meeting under the chairmanship of district president Rehmatullah Achakzai to discuss the revision of milk prices in view of escalating production costs. The meeting was attended by dairy farm owners and stakeholders from across the district.
Participants expressed serious concern over the sharp increase in animal feed prices, veterinary medicines, fuel, and other essential commodities, stating that dairy farmers are facing severe financial pressure. Speakers highlighted that the current milk prices no longer cover operational expenses, pushing small and medium-scale farmers toward losses.
Rehmatullah Achakzai said that dairy farming has become increasingly unsustainable due to inflation, adding that farmers are struggling to maintain quality production under the present economic conditions. The association emphasized the need for a fair pricing mechanism that balances farmers’ survival with consumer affordability.
At the conclusion of the meeting, members unanimously agreed to engage with the district administration at the earliest to discuss a revised milk price structure. The association hopes that consultations with authorities will lead to a mutually acceptable solution that safeguards the dairy sector and ensures its continuity.
