Muhammad Mathan, President of the Bangladesh Cricketers Welfare Association (CWAB), revealed that he and several national players have received death threats for advocating players’ rights. Mathan, who has raised concerns about disrespectful remarks from a Bangladesh Cricket Board official, said the threats have caused anxiety among national team members, particularly regarding participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup in India. Citing security concerns, Bangladesh has requested relocating some league matches to Sri Lanka. Mathan emphasized that his advocacy is solely for protecting players and ensuring fair treatment. He noted that defending player welfare is vital for cricket’s integrity in Bangladesh and that authorities must prioritize safety for international competition.
