Lahore, January 19, 2026: Former PTI lawmakers, Wasim Afzal and his brother Gulriz Afzal, announced joining the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) after discussions with party leadership. Both brothers previously served as members of Punjab Assembly—Wasim in 2008 and Gulriz in 2013. The move marks a significant development in regional politics. The PPP leadership has shown a positive response, signaling potential strengthening of the party’s position in central Punjab constituencies. This political shift follows Wasim Afzal contesting the 2023 election as an independent after being denied the PTI ticket.
