Pakistan Announces Public and Optional Holidays for 2026

Islamabad: The federal government has officially announced public and optional holidays for the year 2026. The Cabinet Division released the schedule covering national, religious and minority observances.
According to the notification, the first public holiday will be observed on February 5 for Kashmir Day, followed by March 23 for Pakistan Day. Eid-ul-Fitr holidays will fall on March 21–23, while May 1 will mark Labour Day. Eid-ul-Azha holidays are scheduled for May 27–29, and Ashura will be observed on June 24–25.
Independence Day will be celebrated on August 14, with Eid Milad-un-Nabi on August 25. November 9 will mark Allama Iqbal Day, while December 25 will be observed for Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas. December 26 will be reserved for the Christian community
