Independent Report
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gohar has made party participation in the Judicial Commission meeting conditional on a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan. Speaking outside the Supreme Court, he said PTI would decide its course only after consultation with the party founder.
He stated that PTI has serious reservations following the 27th Constitutional Amendment and newly framed Judicial Commission rules. Barrister Gohar noted that PTI members did not attend previous commission meetings due to objections over the 26th Amendment, though the party remained willing to present its stance formally.
He clarified that no meeting with Imran Khan has taken place since the constitutional changes, making consultation essential for future decisions. Commenting on the opposition leader’s notification, he said it was issued under the Speaker’s discretionary powers and welcomed the move. PTI, he added, will reassess engagement after internal deliberations.
