Lahore: Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman visited Mayo Hospital to review healthcare facilities and restoration plans. Authorities decided to restore historic hospital buildings while preserving their original architectural design.
During the visit, officials inspected various wards and received a detailed briefing from the Communication and Works Department on phased restoration. The iconic Clock Ward will be rehabilitated to its original form.
The health minister said providing quality medical care remains the government’s top priority. The chief secretary directed the C&W department to complete restoration within the stipulated timeframe. Senior health officials, including the vice chancellor of King Edward Medical University and Mayo Hospital’s medical superintendent, also briefed the delegation on operational challenges and service improvements.
