Kalat, January 20, 2026: The long-awaited revival of the Kalat Vegetable Market is underway, marking a major step to enhance commercial and economic activity in the city. The District Administration has initiated measures to reactivate the market, which had remained inactive for several years, aiming to provide better facilities for the public and support local traders.
Today, a successful bidding process for additional shops in the vegetable market was conducted under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahnawaz Baloch and Chairman Municipal Committee Nawabzada Shoaib Jan Zehri. Chief Officer Municipal Committee Qazi Siraj Ahmed Dehwar and other Local Government Department officials ensured the process was transparent and orderly.
Deputy Commissioner Munir Ahmed Durrani said that local vegetable vendors, occupying shops 51 to 60, participated in the bidding peacefully, and the allotments were completed successfully. Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahnawaz Baloch confirmed that the remaining shops would be allotted in the next phase, after which the vegetable market will become fully operational.
Officials said the initiative is expected to stimulate economic activity in Kalat, benefiting both traders and the local community while strengthening commercial infrastructure in the city.
