Chaman, January 22, 2026:
Heavy snowfall continues across Chaman and several northern districts of Balochistan, intensifying the cold wave. Chaman has recorded its heaviest snowfall in 21 years, with temperatures plunging to minus 8 degrees Celsius.
Through coordinated efforts of the district administration, national highway authorities, and disaster management departments, the Quetta–Chaman Highway was restored for traffic from both sides of Kojak Top using heavy machinery, chemicals, and salt.
Snowfall has blanketed plains and mountainous areas including Khwaja Imran, Toba Achakzai, Qila Abdullah, Gulistan, Jungle Pir Alizai, Shelabag, and Mizai Adda, increasing road slipperiness. Authorities have advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel. Clearance operations are ongoing, while officials inspected snow-removal activities and kept emergency services on alert.
