Islamabad, Jan 23: The Directorate General of Basic Education Community Schools (BECS) has concluded a teacher training programme for 201 non-formal education teachers from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at strengthening basic education delivery for underprivileged children.
The training was organised at the Federal College of Education (FCE) and conducted in two batches, starting on January 12 and January 19, 2026, with the programme concluding on January 23. More than 170 teachers participated in the sessions.
Secretary Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training Nadeem Mahbub attended the closing ceremony as chief guest. He was received by Director General BECS Hameed Khan Niazi and Director FCE Professor Samia Rehman Dogar.
Officials said BECS has provided doorstep primary education to over half a million out-of-school children through its non-formal education model. The secretary emphasised the role of trained teachers in combating illiteracy and improving learning outcomes.
