Quetta, Jan 22: Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication, Senator Dr Ayesha Raza Farooq, on Thursday said that no polio case has been reported in Balochistan during the past 13 months, calling it a major public health achievement.
She was speaking as a special guest at the Balochistan Health Leadership Conference 2026. Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar and Secretary Health Mujeebur Rehman Panezai briefed participants on the performance of the Balochistan Health Department, ongoing reforms, the Balochistan Health Management Information System (BHMIS), and anti-polio initiatives.
Dr Raza praised the provincial government, health department, and field workers, stating that visible improvements are being witnessed in Balochistan’s health sector. She added that the province’s health reforms and polio eradication efforts are being appreciated at the federal level.
