Islamabad, Jan 25:
Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has said that India’s Republic Day on January 26 holds the status of a Black Day for the Kashmiri people due to continued oppression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
In a special statement, he said that persistent repression, undemocratic measures, and grave human rights violations continue unabated in the occupied territory. He added that stringent laws and restrictions imposed by India negate democratic values and fundamental freedoms.
Referring to developments after August 5, 2019, the prime minister said the military siege was further tightened, and civil liberties were severely curtailed. He maintained that the Hindutva-driven policies have failed to weaken the resolve of the Kashmiri people, who continue to demand their right to self-determination in accordance with UN resolutions. He urged the international community to play an effective role in ensuring a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
