Development work under the “Maryam Nawaz Ka Sohna Punjab” initiative has officially commenced in 51 cities across Punjab. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed that the first phase of the projects be completed by June 2026, with priority given to sewerage systems and essential urban infrastructure.
The chief minister has assumed direct monitoring of the Punjab Development Plan, while provincial and district-level control rooms are being established to ensure transparency and timely execution.
Under the plan, 5,887 kilometers of sewerage lines and 181 drainage lines will be constructed, along with the provision of over 33,000 new manhole covers. Major development schemes covering sewerage, roads, beautification, and civic facilities will be implemented in Multan, Gujranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Vehari, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and other cities.
