Islamabad, February 2, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, during a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, emphasized the importance of federal-provincial collaboration for the development and prosperity of KP’s citizens. The Prime Minister assured support for provincial development projects, infrastructure improvement, education, health, and employment opportunities within the federal government’s mandate.
Highlighting security concerns, Shahbaz Sharif stated that the province must intensify its efforts to maintain law and order and strengthen provincial institutions to effectively counter terrorism. He called for joint and sustained measures by both federal and provincial governments to eliminate terrorism, urging KP to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities toward public welfare. Shahbaz Sharif added that close coordination between federal and provincial authorities is essential to achieve national unity, stability, and inclusive development. He reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to work within its jurisdiction to ensure the well-being and prosperity of KP’s citizens.
Federal Minister Ameer Muqam welcomed Chief Minister Afridi’s arrival in Islamabad, describing it as timely and beneficial. He emphasized that national issues, including security and provincial financial matters, require consultation and cooperation, transcending political affiliations for the greater good of Pakistan.
