ANF Intensifies Nationwide Crackdown as Drug Cases Demand Faster Trials, Stricter Oversight

Islamabad, February 3, 2026 — The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has intensified its nationwide crackdown against drug trafficking, conducting five successful operations across multiple cities and arresting five accused while recovering 22.7 kilograms of narcotics worth over Rs 1.9 million.
According to ANF officials, 12 kilograms of hashish were recovered from a vehicle near Fateh Jang Interchange, while two separate operations in Faisalabad led to the seizure of 7.2 kilograms and 1.6 kilograms of hashish from motorcycle riders near Chak 196 and Johar Colony respectively. In Sialkot, one kilogram of crystal meth (ice) concealed inside an electric heater was seized from a parcel at a courier office on Daska Road, and an accused was apprehended. Another operation near GT Road in Burhan, Attock district, resulted in the recovery of 400 grams of ice and 500 grams of hashish from a cement-loaded truck.
Cases have been registered against all suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA) 1997, and investigations are currently underway.
While these recoveries highlight ANF’s operational effectiveness, experts stress that enforcement alone is not enough. There is a growing demand for faster prosecution of narcotics cases, stricter punishments, and enhanced monitoring of transport networks, courier services, and highways frequently used by traffickers. Analysts warn that without swift trials and tougher legal consequences, drug networks continue to regroup and exploit enforcement gaps.
Authorities emphasize that stronger inter-agency coordination, rigorous checking mechanisms, and expedited court proceedings are essential to deter traffickers and curb the expanding drug menace across the country.
