National Polio Vaccination Campaign Reaches 38.9 Million Children Across Pakistan

Islamabad: The first national polio vaccination campaign of 2026 has successfully reached over 38.9 million children across Pakistan. The campaign, conducted simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan, aims to prevent cross-border virus transmission. Provincial reports confirm that more than 21 million children in Punjab, 8.6 million in Sindh, 6.2 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 1.8 million in Balochistan have received polio drops. The Federal Capital Islamabad has completed vaccinations for 421,000 children, while Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir reported 246,000 and 647,000 children vaccinated, respectively. Authorities urged parents to cooperate fully with vaccination teams to ensure a polio-free Pakistan. Health officials highlighted that the campaign uses advanced monitoring systems, mobile applications, and trained personnel to maximize coverage. The ongoing effort reflects Pakistan’s commitment to child health, disease prevention, and international public health standards.
