Quetta: The Balochistan government has decided to construct concrete walls at all entry points of Quetta’s Red Zone to further strengthen security arrangements in the provincial capital. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Secretary Communications and Works Babar Khan. Officials informed the meeting that the first phase of the project will begin with the installation of a concrete wall at Edhi Chowk, followed by the gradual placement of barriers at all remaining access routes leading into the Red Zone.
According to officials, the move aims to enhance the protection of sensitive government installations and ensure public safety amid prevailing security concerns. Authorities believe the step will help regulate traffic flow and prevent unauthorized entry into high-security areas.
Meanwhile, several roads in Quetta, including Pishin Stop, Inscomb Road and Spini Link Road, have been closed or converted into one-way routes since January 31 as part of security measures. These restrictions have caused serious traffic congestion and inconvenience for residents. Citizens have urged the authorities to introduce alternative routes and improve traffic management alongside security enhancements.
