Safe City “Mera Pyara” Team Successfully Resolves a 28-Year-Old Case

Virtual Center for Child Safety established at Punjab Safe Cities Authority has achieved another major milestone by reuniting Atif, who had been missing for 28 years, with his family. The Safe City “Mera Pyara” team successfully traced and reunited Atif, who was separated from his family in 1998 at the age of three, after a prolonged period of 28 years.
According to the spokesperson of Punjab Safe Cities Authority, Atif had travelled from Rawalpindi to Lahore with his mother and got separated from her at the railway station. His parents were hearing and speech impaired, which prevented them from seeking effective assistance at the time, leaving the case unresolved for many years.Spokesperson further stated that Atif spent 28 years at an SOS Village. Safe City “Mera Pyara” team conducted a detailed interview with him and shared interview along with his childhood photograph on social media. The Facebook post reached Atif’s brother, Muhammad Waqas, who is currently residing in Saudi Arabia. Information provided by him helped confirm Atif’s identity. After verification of all evidence, the Safe City “Mera Pyara” team facilitated reunification contact between the two brothers and formally handed Atif over to his family.
According to the spokesperson, Atif’s mother, Razia Sultana, and his brother, Muhammad Naeem, are still missing, and efforts to trace them are ongoing. The spokesperson added that “Mera Pyara” team has so far reunited more than 60,000 missing persons with their families.The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has urged citizens to share information regarding any missing person by calling 15 and pressing 3.PSCA remains fully committed to leveraging modern technology to ensure public safety so as to reunite missing individuals with their loved ones.
