Quetta, February 10: The Quetta district administration has conducted extensive inspections targeting profiteering shopkeepers and vendors using banned plastic bags, aiming to enforce price control regulations and environmental laws across the city.
During the operations, 117 shops were inspected, resulting in the arrest of 25 shopkeepers, 15 sent to jail, five shops sealed, and 70 kilograms of illegal plastic bags confiscated. Teams from Subdivisions Sariab, Saddar, and City focused on butchers, bakeries, and general stores found selling meat at inflated prices, while additional checks targeted milk shops and bakeries using prohibited plastic bags.
The inspections were carried out under the supervision of Special Magistrates Izzatullah, Ejaz Hussain Khosa, and Haseeb Sardar to ensure strict adherence to the law. The district administration emphasized that operations against profiteers and violators will continue across Quetta to safeguard consumers and uphold regulatory standards.
