QUETTA, February 11, 2026: Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has emphasized that terrorism poses a grave threat to the entire nation and must remain insulated from political or economic disputes.
Speaking at the Balochistan Assembly during a session addressing the recent surge in violent incidents, Bugti strongly condemned the latest terrorist attacks and conveyed solidarity with the families of those who lost their lives. He underscored that the government’s top priority is the restoration of peace across the province.
“Terrorism is a national crisis confronting all of Pakistan. It is dangerous to link this issue with political or economic grievances,” the chief minister asserted. He stressed that while political debates are important, they are separate from the threat of terrorism, which demands a unified national response and a strategic approach.
Bugti criticized attempts to spread misleading narratives targeting the youth of Balochistan but assured that the government would prevent citizens from being drawn into a “pointless conflict.” He warned that violence only exacerbates challenges rather than offering solutions, saying, “Problems cannot be resolved through the gun.”
Highlighting the government’s willingness for dialogue, he called on opposition parties and other political forces to participate in constructive discussions. “We should come together to discuss electoral reforms, bureaucratic improvements, and equitable allocation of resources,” he stated, emphasizing that the Assembly provides the proper democratic platform for addressing public and political matters. Nevertheless, he reiterated that terrorism must not be conflated with these issues.
Expressing grief over attacks on civilians, laborers, and security personnel, Bugti described such acts as wholly unacceptable. He noted that law enforcement agencies continue operations against terrorist elements and vowed that those responsible would face justice.
The chief minister lauded the sacrifices and dedication of security forces, praising both civilian and law enforcement contributions in combating terrorism. He highlighted that security agencies have thwarted several major threats under challenging conditions.
Turning to development, Bugti outlined ongoing projects worth billions of rupees throughout the province, particularly in Gwadar and other strategic areas. These initiatives focus on essential infrastructure, education, healthcare, and basic services, though he acknowledged that progress varies by region and requires time.
Acknowledging persistent unemployment and social challenges, he insisted that deprivation cannot justify the loss of innocent lives and called for a coordinated national approach to address these issues.
Appealing to citizens, Bugti urged continued cooperation with state institutions and security forces and warned against falling for misleading propaganda. “A strong bond between the people and the state is essential for lasting peace,” he remarked.
The chief minister paid tribute to martyrs and expressed condolences to bereaved families, affirming that the government stands by them in their grief. He reminded legislators that the Constitution encompasses not only rights but also responsibilities, emphasizing that national interest must prevail.
Concluding his address, Bugti reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace, development, and prosperity in Balochistan and pledged to provide constructive opportunities for the province’s youth. He ended the session by reciting a poem, which received the Assembly members’ full attention.
