Balochistan’s Mineral Industry Poised to Drive Economic Growth, Quetta Commissioner Says

QUETTA, February 11, 2026: Commissioner Quetta Division, Shahzaib Khan Kakar, has highlighted the critical role of the minerals sector in shaping Balochistan’s economic future, stressing that the province will fully leverage its resources to foster sustainable growth in this industry.
Kakar made these remarks while chairing a meeting focused on land allocation for the creation of a Chamber of Mines in Quetta. The session was attended by Deputy Commissioner Quetta Mehrullah Badini, Additional Commissioner Quetta Division Agha Samiullah, Assistant Commissioner (Political) Syed Kaleemullah, and officials from relevant departments.
Officials presented detailed proposals for identifying and allocating a suitable plot of land for the Chamber, indicating that at least 25,000 square feet would be needed in a location within the city that is easily accessible to industry stakeholders. Departments were tasked with locating potential sites to accelerate the land allocation process and ensure the timely establishment of the facility.
Commissioner Shahzaib Khan Kakar described the minerals sector as the backbone of the provincial economy, emphasizing that its development would generate substantial employment opportunities. He noted that the Chamber of Mines would serve as a central hub for investors, promoting both local and international investment in Balochistan’s mining sector.
Further, Kakar directed authorities to develop a detailed plan ensuring urban accessibility, security, and essential amenities for investors, aiming to create a favorable business environment that supports economic expansion and strengthens the province’s financial prospects.
