Quetta, February 16: Quetta is on the verge of a transformative urban makeover as authorities unveil a comprehensive Master Plan to modernize the city, expand infrastructure, and tackle long-standing civic challenges.
In a key meeting chaired by Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzeb Khan Kakar, senior officials, including Deputy Commissioner Mehrullah Badini, Divisional Director Development Zahoor Ahmed, Deputy Project Director Abid Ali, QDA representatives, and the planning consultants, reviewed a detailed roadmap covering short-term, mid-term, and long-term projects. The plan includes digital mapping, land surveys, urban expansion strategies, and improvements in roads, drainage, and sewerage systems.
Commissioner Kakar stressed that the planning process will prioritize sustainable solutions, public participation, and relocation of commercial and industrial hubs away from congested city areas. He highlighted pressing challenges such as water scarcity, urban congestion, and land utilization, insisting that immediate actions for short-term projects must be implemented without delay.
“This Master Plan is not just about today; it is about securing Quetta’s future. It will transform the city into a modern, organized, and economically vibrant urban center, capable of meeting the needs of a growing population,” Commissioner Kakar said.
Officials assured that the plan will streamline urban services, improve living standards, and boost economic activity, while keeping residents’ participation and feedback at the core of decision-making.
