Balochistan Minister Launches Women’s Kitchen Gardening Initiative to Promote Economic Empowerment in Barkhan

Barkhan, February 18, 2026 – Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Balochistan Sardar Abdul Rehman Khan Khetran announced that the government is taking concrete steps to make women in Barkhan economically self-reliant and empowered. He emphasized that educating women and equipping them with skills across various sectors is essential for building a strong and progressive society.
The remarks came during the inauguration of a women-focused kitchen gardening program in Barkhan, organized with support from the MBSP People’s Republic of China. Sardar Abdul Rehman Khan Khetran highlighted that kitchen gardening will not only help families meet their nutritional needs at home but also provide women with avenues for economic stability. He stressed that in current circumstances, food self-sufficiency is critical and initiatives like these play a pivotal role in strengthening rural economies.
During the ceremony, 200 kitchen gardening kits were distributed among local women, facilitated by the minister’s special support and contributions from Sardarzada Aurangzeb Khetran. Each kit included high-quality vegetable seeds and essential agricultural tools, enabling women to begin cultivating vegetables at their homes.
Sardar Abdul Rehman Khan Khetran reaffirmed his commitment to continuing practical programs in Barkhan aimed at improving women’s welfare, education, and skill development, ensuring their social and economic empowerment.
