Rawalakot, February 17, 2026: Federal Minister for Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Safron, and President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Amir Maqam, addressed students at University of Poonch, Rawalakot, during the distribution of 446 laptops under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme Phase 4. Speaking as the chief guest, he highlighted Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of empowering youth through education, technology, and digital inclusion. He stressed that the program is strictly merit-based, with no influence of recommendations or favoritism.

The minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the freedom of Kashmir, condemning decades-long human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir. He praised Pakistani and Kashmiri youth for their resilience and global representation and noted ongoing initiatives such as health cards and the establishment of Danish University and five Danish Schools in Azad Kashmir.
Earlier, Amir Maqam was warmly received by political leaders and faculty at the university, where he also planted a commemorative tree. The event emphasized youth empowerment, meritocracy, and the continued developmental and diplomatic support for Kashmir.
