KALAT, Feb 17: The Forest Department formally launched the Tree Plantation Drive 2026 in Kalat with a ceremony held at the Municipal Committee premises. Officials planted saplings to mark the beginning of the campaign aimed at expanding green cover across the district.
Divisional Forest Officer Ali Akbar Bangalzai said saplings are being distributed from departmental nurseries for plantation at government offices, highways, public places, and among farmers and citizens. The initiative seeks to curb environmental pollution and address climate-related challenges.
Addressing the ceremony, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahnawaz Baloch emphasized that planting trees is both a lasting charity and an environmental necessity. He urged the public to not only plant saplings but also ensure their protection and proper care. Municipal authorities assured full cooperation to make the campaign successful and widen Kalat’s green belt.
