Independent Report
Chaman, February 19 – Assistant Commissioner Imtiaz Ali Baloch has announced a zero-tolerance approach toward overpricing and artificial inflation during Ramadan, urging residents to report any violations so that swift action can be taken by the district administration.
Today, AC Chaman conducted extensive inspections across local markets, examining the prices, quality, and hygiene of essential food items. Shops selling meat, ghee, pulses, sugar, flour, and other staples were checked for compliance with the official government price list, while customer feedback was also gathered to assess market conditions.
Traders were cautioned to strictly adhere to approved pricing, standard operating procedures, and safety regulations. Tailor shops found violating rate guidelines faced fines, and butchers were specifically instructed to sell meat at official rates, with the AC warning that any infringement would trigger immediate penalties.
Imtiaz Ali Baloch emphasized that ensuring public relief during the holy month is the top priority of the district administration. He called on traders, unions, and trade associations to cooperate actively to stabilize the prices of vegetables, pulses, rice, meat, and other essential commodities.
Following the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Habib Ahmed Bangluzai, inspections and enforcement measures will continue daily. The AC reiterated that, in line with the spirit of Ramadan, profiteering, hoarding, and unfair market practices will be strictly curbed to safeguard the interests of ordinary citizens.
