Independent Report
Khuzdar, February 19, 2026
The price of meat in Khuzdar has surged to between Rs2,200 and Rs2,300 per kilogram, as butchers openly ignore officially notified rates, raising serious concerns about administrative enforcement.
Local residents report that several butchers have refused to comply with government price lists, allegedly stating that they do not recognize the administration’s rates. Citizens say such defiance reflects weak market monitoring and ineffective price control mechanisms.
“When arbitrary pricing replaces the rule of law in the marketplace, all claims of public relief remain confined to paperwork,” said a local consumer, expressing frustration over unchecked inflation.
The issue is not limited to meat alone. Fruit vendors have also reportedly continued selling items at self-imposed rates, adding to the financial burden on residents already struggling with rising living costs.
Consumers have urged the district administration to take immediate action against profiteering and ensure strict implementation of officially approved price lists to restore public confidence.
