Khyber, February 21 — A seminar was held in Landi Kotal to mark International Mother Language Day, where speakers called for the inclusion of Pashto in the educational curriculum up to grade twelve.
The event, organized by Khyber Olas, brought together poets, writers, youth representatives and members of civil society. Chairing the session, Shah Khalid Shinwari emphasized that Pashto represents the history, culture, traditions and ethical values of the Pashtun community.
Speakers, including Aftab Shinwari and other literary figures, stressed that neglecting one’s mother tongue weakens cultural identity and intellectual foundations. They urged the government to grant Pashto a formal place in teaching institutions and promote its written and spoken use in daily life and digital platforms.
Participants from various political and social backgrounds attended the seminar and expressed commitment to preserving and promoting the language.
