Quetta, Feb 22 : Security in Barkhan district was shaken after unidentified armed men attacked the Zarghoon Construction Company’s crusher plant late at night, opening fire and abducting three workers from the Musakhel tribe.
Police sources confirmed that the assailants also targeted a nearby police outpost, seizing firearms from three officers before fleeing. The incident took place in a remote location where the company was carrying out road construction and related operations.
The attackers’ gunfire caused partial damage to the plant’s machinery, forcing operations to halt. The three abducted workers, all residents of Musakhel, were regular employees at the company. In response, police, Levies, and Frontier Corps (FC) personnel launched an immediate search operation to locate the perpetrators and recover the abducted workers. No further updates have been reported regarding their status or the suspects’ capture.
Officials noted that this incident is part of a troubling pattern of attacks on construction companies in Balochistan, particularly those engaged in road and infrastructure projects. Analysts suggest such acts are intended to disrupt development work and instill fear locally.
The district administration has increased security measures in the affected areas and urged residents to report any suspicious activities. Zarghoon Construction Company officials confirmed the attack and said they are coordinating closely with the families of the abducted workers.
