National Cricket Academy Lahore to Start Advanced Training Development Camp

Lahore, June 14, 2023 (PPI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled plans for a new, advanced training program at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. Starting on June 16, this 20-day skill development camp is designed to enhance the abilities of 47 male cricketers to prepare them for international competitions.

The camp will be conducted in three phases, with the first phase including stars such as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, training from June 16 to June 21 with 15 players. Each subsequent phase will include 16 players, concluding on July 5.

Aaqib Javed, NCA’s Director of High Performance, highlighted the importance of the camp’s strategy. “This initiative is essential for refining our players’ skills, improving their fitness, and equipping them with the necessary expertise for the global cricket arena,” he said.

The training regimen will be rigorous, starting with morning fitness and fielding drills, followed by afternoon sessions focused on specific cricket skills like net practice. These activities will take place from Monday to Thursday at the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground and NCA facilities. Fridays and Saturdays are reserved for simulated match play, which will further enhance the players’ competitive spirit.

In addition to skill enhancement, the camp will also serve as a platform for national selectors to shape and select teams for the upcoming international fixtures of the Pakistan Men’s Team and Pakistan Shaheens.

Following the Lahore camp, another preparation session is planned in Karachi, focusing on the teams’ forthcoming tours to Bangladesh, West Indies, and England.

PCB has promised comprehensive media coverage of the camp, providing fans with continuous insights and updates through video and photo documentation of the training sessions.
