District Council Unanimously Approves Rs. 849.5 Million Budget for FY 2025-26

MIRPURKHAS: In a significant fiscal development, the District Council Mirpurkhas has unanimously approved a budget of Rs. 849.498 million for the fiscal year 2025-26, as presented by Chairman Mir Anwar Khan Talpur. The approved budget outlines total expenditures of Rs. 849.474 million, resulting in a small surplus of Rs. 23,900.

 

According to Revenue Estimates, OZT (Octroi Zila Tax) and other taxes: Rs. 458.34 million, Property transfer tax (inactive properties): Rs. 17 million, Fees: Rs. 610,000, Rental income: Rs. 4.5 million, Other income: Rs. 100,000, Capital income: Rs. 2.23 million, Previous year’s rollover: Rs. 366.7184 million.

 

The expenditure Breakdown as presented in the DCM, among Salaries: Rs. 130.775 million, Pensions: Rs. 132 million, Contingency expenses: Rs. 45.4 million, Mandatory expenses: Rs. 500,000, Development projects: Rs. 520 million, Special expenses: Rs. 12.5 million, Pension arrears: Rs. 9.45 million, Financial aid: Rs. 5.6 million, Support for families of deceased employees: Rs. 2 million, Mango exhibition: Rs. 100,000, Flower exhibition: Rs. 50,000, District press clubs: Rs. 1 million, Health and education institutions: Rs. 100,000, Support for poor and deserving individuals: Rs. 500,000, Public school: Rs. 1 million, Sports activities: Rs. 200,000, District and High Court Bars: Rs. 500,000, Scholarships for employees’ children: Rs. 400,000.

 

During the budget session, council members appreciated the chairman’s inclusive and development-oriented approach. The session, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rasheed Masood Khan, also included Vice Chairman Mir Ahmed Khan Talpur, Chief Officer Syed Imran Haider Shah, and District Council Officer Owais Leghari, along with journalists and a large number of council members. The gathering expressed consensus on the importance of enhancing development projects and welfare measures.

 

The protestors further accused Junejo of replacing local lower-grade employees with non-residents who never report for duty, yet continue to draw salaries allegedly collected by the Deputy Director himself.

 

Calling for immediate action, the demonstrators demanded the suspension of Ayaz Junejo, a full investigation into the corruption allegations, and permanent appointments for local staff to safeguard their employment and restore departmental integrity.
