Tribal Clash in Shikarpur’s Katcha Area Leaves One Youth Dead, Another Injured

Islamabad, June 30 : A deadly attack in the Katcha area of Shikarpur on Monday morning left one youth dead and another seriously injured, reigniting a long-standing tribal feud. According to reports, armed men belonging to the Jatoi community, equipped with automatic weapons, stormed the residence of Hazari Mahar in Ameel Mahar village, located in the Chak area under Abad Milani, Thana Mehmood Bagh.

As a result of the firing, Hazari Mahar’s 22-year-old son, Rashid Ali Mahar, died on the spot. Several cattle were also killed or injured in the attack.

The same group then targeted Ghazi Khan Mahar village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Bachal Bhayo police station. Gulzar Ahmed Mahar, son of Jaryal Mahar, was seriously injured and shifted to Taluka Hospital Lakhi.

The relatives of the deceased shifted the body of Rashid Ali Mahar to the hospital for postmortem several hours later.

The bereaved families allege that the Jatoi tribesmen attacked them while they were asleep. The attack is believed to be a result of a long-standing enmity between the Mahar and Jatoi communities. Authorities have yet to register a formal complaint and police investigations are underway.
