The Provincial Election Commissioner, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Saeed Gul, stated that the Election Commission is committed to eliminating the gender gap in the electoral rolls. He expressed these views while inaugurating a one-day training session at the office of the Provincial Election Commissioner, aimed at devising strategies to assist women in obtaining their CNICs.

He further informed that the fifth phase of the Inclusive Women CNIC & Voter Registration Campaign has been launched to reduce the gender gap in the electoral rolls. The campaign is currently underway in the districts of Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Hangu, Kohat, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Mardan, Swabi, Swat, Khyber, Shangla, and Battagram.

The training session is expected to significantly contribute to the effectiveness of this campaign. Participants included Joint Provincial Election Commissioners Mr. Muhammad Fareed Afridi and Mr. Shahid Iqbal, Director Elections Mr. Muhammad Nadeem Khan, Regional Election Commissioners, District Election Commissioners from the concerned districts, and NADRA officials.

Mr. Saeed Gul highlighted that the previous four phases of the campaign have greatly promoted equal electoral participation for women and other marginalized groups, thereby strengthening democratic inclusion. He emphasized that democracy flourishes when every voice is heard, and every citizen has the opportunity to shape their future through the power of their vote.

The Provincial Election Commissioner proudly shared that the gender gap in the electoral rolls has been reduced from 11.8% to 7.4% by January 2025, which reflects the tireless efforts of the Election Commission and the dedication shown in the earlier phases of the campaign.

Deputy Director Media Coordination Mr. Sohail Ahmad and District Election Commissioner Abbottabad Mr. Naveed ur Rehman served as Master Trainers during the session.
