The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety & Halal Food Authority has seized a large quantity of counterfeit and substandard cold drinks during a raid in the Pabbi area of Nowshera district, last day.
According to the authority’s spokesperson the operation was carried out by the Nowshera food safety team on a tip-off. During the raid, approximately 2,700 litres of fake and substandard cold beverages were recovered from a vehicle. The seized items were taken into government custody, and heavy fines were imposed on the owners. Further legal action under the Food Safety Act was also initiated .
Speaking on the occasion, KP Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru said that the sale and distribution of harmful and substandard beverages would not be tolerated under any circumstances. “Those playing with the health of citizens are enemies of the people and will be dealt with strictly. No leniency will be shown,” Zahir Shah remarked.
The minister also urged the public to report any instances of unsafe or low-quality food items to the authorities to ensure swift and decisive action.
