SPECIAL REPORT. BARCELONA.AUG.27
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi held a press conference in Barcelona, highlighting the success of his diplomatic and welfare meetings during his visit to Spain and Belgium. The Governor emphasized that overseas Pakistanis are a source of pride for the country.
The Governor had to cut short his visit due to the recent devastating floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which have left thousands of families in dire need of assistance. He met with international aid organizations in Brussels to discuss flood relief and rehabilitation efforts, emphasizing the need for immediate and sustained support.
Governor Kundi criticized the provincial government’s response to the floods, questioning the Chief Minister’s claim that no external aid is needed for rehabilitation. He emphasized the challenges of rehabilitating flood victims who are currently living in tent cities.
The Governor also discussed opportunities for cooperation with Spain in promoting tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and facilitating higher education opportunities for Pakistani students in Spain. He extended an invitation to the Governor of Catalonia to visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and showcase its positive and peaceful image.
Governor Kundi expressed hope for progress on the issue of dual citizenship in Spain, which could strengthen ties between the two countries. Overseas Pakistanis have assured their support for the flood-affected people, consistent with their past efforts.
