The signing of the first phase of the Gaza peace agreement has been widely welcomed by world leaders and international organizations.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed happiness over the ceasefire in Gaza, saying, “We are pleased that the Hamas-Israel negotiations, in which Türkiye played a role, have resulted in a truce.” He added that Türkiye would closely monitor the implementation of the agreement and continue its involvement in ensuring its success.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also welcomed the signing of the first phase of the Gaza peace deal, calling it a positive step toward ending the suffering of Palestinians.
French President Emmanuel Macron hailed the agreement and reaffirmed France’s commitment to pursuing the two-state solution and an end to the ongoing conflict.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Berlin was closely following the Gaza peace process and expressed confidence that “a lasting solution will be achieved within this week.”
In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs also welcomed the Gaza peace accord and expressed hope for lasting peace and stability in the region.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Beijing was hopeful for a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in Gaza “as soon as possible,” reaffirming China’s support for the principle that Palestine should be governed by Palestinians.
European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas called the first-phase agreement between Israel and Hamas a “significant diplomatic breakthrough.” She said it offered a “precious opportunity to end the war and secure the release of all hostages,” adding that the EU would fully support the implementation of the agreement.
Meanwhile, World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus described peace as “the best medicine,” welcoming the ceasefire and hostage release announcement made by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Dr. Tedros said the deal marked a major step toward lasting peace for both Israelis and Palestinians, expressing hope that all parties would honor the agreement. He added that the WHO stood ready to support Gaza’s medical and humanitarian needs during the transition to peace.
