Armed Forces Repel Unprovoked Cross-Border Attack; Heavy Losses Inflicted on Taliban and Affiliated Terrorists
Rawalpindi, 12 Oct 2025 — On the night of 11–12 October 2025, Afghan Taliban elements and India-sponsored Fitna al Khawarij launched an unprovoked attack along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border. The cowardly assault — which included indiscriminate fire and limited raids — aimed to destabilize border areas and facilitate terrorism.
Exercising the right of self-defence, the alert and professional Armed Forces of Pakistan repelled the attack decisively along the entire border. Precision fires, strikes and physical raids were directed against Taliban camps, posts, terrorist training facilities and support networks operating from Afghan territory, including elements linked to Fitna al Khawarij (FAK), Fitna al Hindustan (FAH) and ISKP/Daesh. All possible measures were taken to avoid collateral damage and to protect civilian lives.
As a result of sustained operations, multiple Taliban locations were destroyed. Twenty-one (21) hostile positions on the Afghan side of the border were briefly captured, and several terrorist training camps used to plan attacks against Pakistan were rendered inoperative.
During the overnight skirmishes, twenty-three (23) brave soldiers embraced shahadat while defending the territorial integrity of Pakistan; twenty-nine (29) soldiers were injured. Credible intelligence and damage assessment indicate that more than two hundred (200) Taliban and affiliated terrorists have been neutralized, with many more reported injured. Infra-structural damage to Taliban posts, camps, headquarters and support networks is extensive across tactical and operational depths.
The Armed Forces of Pakistan remain fully prepared to protect the country’s territorial integrity, and to safeguard the life and property of its people. While Pakistan prefers constructive diplomacy and dialogue, it will not tolerate the treacherous use of Afghan soil for terrorism. We note with concern that this provocation occurred during the visit of the Taliban Foreign Minister to India — the region’s largest sponsor of terrorism. In the interest of regional peace and security, we call on the Taliban Government to take immediate, verifiable action to neutralize groups such as FAK, FAH and ISKP/Daesh operating from their territory. Failing that, Pakistan will continue to exercise its right to defend its people by persistently neutralizing terror targets.
This episode vindicates Pakistan’s long-standing position that elements within the Taliban Government are facilitating terrorists. If such sponsorship continues in tandem with external actors seeking to destabilize the region, Pakistan will not rest until the menace of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan is eliminated.
