BEIJING, October 14:

Pakistan’s handmade cutlery and metal tools are steadily gaining ground in the Chinese market, with exports showing an encouraging rise during the first eight months of 2025, according to a report by China Economic Net (CEN).

Data from China’s General Administration of Customs reveals that exports of tools, implements, and cutlery made from base metals reached $5.11 million, reflecting a 2% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when total exports stood at $5 million.

The most substantial contributor to this growth is the export of pliers, pincers, tweezers, and similar precision tools, which saw a strong boost in both quantity and value. In 2025, Pakistan shipped 135,191 kilograms of these tools worth $2.44 million, marking a 30% rise from last year’s $1.88 million.

This increase highlights China’s expanding reliance on Pakistani-made tools in its manufacturing, industrial, and assembly sectors, where demand for reliable, high-quality implements is growing rapidly.

Similarly, scissors, tailors’ shears, and other cutting tools continued to perform consistently, with exports totaling $1.19 million in 2025—indicating stable demand and customer satisfaction with Pakistani craftsmanship.

Industry experts attribute the rising exports to the superior quality, durability, and hand-forged precision of Pakistani artisans, particularly those from traditional cutlery hubs like Sialkot and Wazirabad.

“With China’s preference for premium handmade products expanding, Pakistan’s cutlery and tools sector is poised to see sustainable growth in the years ahead,” said a trade analyst based in Beijing.

The report underscores the growing Pakistan–China economic synergy beyond traditional sectors like textiles and agriculture, reflecting new opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) engaged in metalworks and crafts.
