In a major milestone toward community rehabilitation, Pakistan’s Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has distributed final payments and handed over resettlement plots to 65 families displaced by the Dasu Hydropower Project (DHPP) — one of the country’s largest clean energy ventures being developed with Chinese expertise.

The Final Payment Distribution and Plot Handover Ceremony was held at the GM/PD Office in WAPDA Colony, Choochang, where Brig (Retd.) Khalid Khan Jadoon, Director General Social Safeguard (WAPDA), and Achlie Gullepo, Project Manager of Dasu Hydro Consultant (DHC), jointly distributed resettlement plot certificates and Temporary Relocation Package (TRP) cheques to affected families, Gwadar Pro reported.

“This handover is more than a transaction; it’s a promise of renewed livelihoods and better futures,” Brig (Retd.) Jadoon said, reaffirming WAPDA’s commitment to resettle every affected family with dignity and care.

The Dasu project, spread over 4,643 hectares, impacted 767 households from 34 hamlets and villages. Under its Resettlement Framework, the project also ensured protection of mosques, schools, health units, rock carvings, and a historic mosque, while ensuring transparent compensation and relocation.

Chinese firms play a key role in the project’s execution —

CGGC handles the RCC dam and spillways,

CCECC is constructing the Right Access Road,

CGICOP built the Project Colony, and

PCCC is working on the transmission line connecting Dubair Khwar HPP with Dasu HPP.
