Provincial Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development, Sardarzada Faisal Khan Jamali, along with Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism and Culture, Nawabzada Mir Zareen Khan Magsi, Secretary Livestock and Dairy Development, Muhammad Tayyab Lehri, and Director General Animal Health & Extension Services, Dr. Muhammad Farooq Tarin, visited Lasbela University of Agriculture and Water & Marine Sciences. They held a meeting with Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Malik Tarin, with Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Elahi Bakhsh Marghzani and Registrar Dr. Balaj Rasheed also present.
The delegation, led by the provincial minister, held a comprehensive session with university deans, department heads, and administrative officers. During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor briefed the participants about the university’s academic and extracurricular programs, facilities, student scholarships, and ongoing research initiatives. He highlighted that Lasbela University offers BS and MS degrees in diverse and important disciplines, maintaining a focus on quality education while promoting co-curricular activities. He described the university as a gift from Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan, playing a pivotal role in the dissemination of knowledge.
Professor Tarin also noted that the university has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several international institutions, which are already being implemented.
Provincial Minister Sardarzada Faisal Khan Jamali stressed the importance of the Livestock Department and highlighted the need for further development of the sector. He encouraged university faculty to focus on research and organic products, whose demand is rapidly increasing, and assured that the department will collaborate closely with Lasbela University.
Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism and Culture, Mir Zareen Khan Magsi, described Lasbela as a fertile and strategically important district, assuring full support for joint research initiatives between the university and the Livestock Department.
Secretary Livestock, Muhammad Tayyab Lehri, emphasized that the operational Tiaru Farm in Lasbela is crucial for student research and that the university will be provided all necessary facilities. He added that research collaborations will be expanded further.
During the visit, Lasbela University and the Livestock Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote joint research and development. The MoU outlines:
Collaborative research and national/international conferences on veterinary sciences and livestock development.
Training programs for veterinarians and academic professionals.
Mutual support in sample collection, storage, disease diagnosis, and access to educational and research facilities.
Quarterly meetings to discuss current challenges, planning, and future development strategies.
Promotion of welfare societies and farms for various livestock, including dairy, camel milk processing, and Red Sindhi cattle at Sakran Hub, ensuring technical coordination and capacity building.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked the provincial minister and the delegation for visiting the university and participating in the MoU signing. The delegation also visited the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, inspecting classrooms and laboratories.
