Emirates Showcases Retrofitted B777 with Premium Economy to Celebrate 40 Years of Operations to Karachi

Karachi – Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, celebrated 40 years of operations to Karachi by showcasing its retrofitted B777 aircraft featuring Premium Economy cabins at Jinnah International Airport. The special preview, held ahead of the airline’s 40th anniversary, offered VIPs, stakeholders from aviation and travel sectors, and media representatives an exclusive tour of the aircraft’s refreshed four-class layout and latest amenities.
Operating as EK600, the historic flight that first connected Dubai to Karachi 40 years ago, arrived in Karachi at 10:45 AM, giving attendees a firsthand look at Emirates’ Premium Economy cabins, now available on an expanding network of international routes.
In attendance were Consul General UAE H.E. Bakheet Ateeq Al-Rumaithi, civil aviation and airport officials, and other dignitaries, hosted by Mohammed Alhashmi, Emirates Vice President for Pakistan.
Mohammed Alhashmi said:

Four decades of partnership with Pakistan
Over the last 40 years, Emirates has carried over 19 million passengers between Dubai and Karachi across more than 87,000 flights. Overall, Emirates has transported 36 million passengers on 146,000 flights to five destinations across Pakistan. In addition to passenger services, Emirates handles over 73,000 tonnes of cargo annually, supporting trade and commerce.
Currently, Emirates operates three daily flights connecting Karachi to global destinations including Dubai, Jeddah, Medina, Toronto, London, New York, Istanbul, Houston, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne, Manchester, and Shanghai. Key feeder markets for Karachi include Bangkok, Dammam, and Sydney.
Premium Economy: Redefining long-haul travel
The retrofitted B777 features Emirates’ latest Premium Economy cabins, with spacious leather reclining seats, full leg and footrests, adjustable headrests, in-seat charging points, and a wood-finished side cocktail table. Passengers also enjoy a 13.3-inch HD screen, generously sized pillows and blankets, complimentary amenity kits, and premium dining options with regional menus and extensive beverage selections.
The enhanced in-flight entertainment system, ice, now offers over 6,500 channels, including an extensive collection of films, TV shows, and music in Urdu, providing a truly immersive travel experience.
