QUETTA: The project of repair and restoration of the historic Moti Gehram Fort-known as the symbol of love in District Jhal Magsi- has officially begun.
The provincial government has issued a tender for the restoration work, which would cost Rs. 100 million.
Along with this, restoration work is also being started on Hermagai Fort in Washuk, Kharan Fort, and Laidam Fort in Panjgur.
Officials of the Department of Archaeology informed that Moti Gehram Fort is often called the Taj Mahal of Balochistan. However, due to years of neglect and lack of maintenance, the fort had fallen into a state of disrepair and was losing its beauty.
In response, the Department of Culture and Archaeology has launched a 100 million rupee project for the restoration, renovation, and beautification of the fort, and the tender process has been completed.
The provincial government has also initiated restoration and preservation projects for Hermagai Fort (Washuk), Kharan Fort, and Laidam Fort (Panjgur).
Officials said that restoring and beautifying Balochistan’s ancient forts would help promote tourism in the province.
