KARACHI, Nov 3: The Sindh Health Department has issued an updated report on the province-wide dengue situation, confirming 1,589 new cases in the last 24 hours out of a total 5,978 tests conducted across Sindh.
According to the report, 4,444 tests were performed in the Karachi Division, with 876 positive cases detected. In the Hyderabad Division, 1,534 tests were conducted, yielding 713 positive results.
Secretary Health Sindh Rehan Baloch stated that during the same period, 88 new dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals and 92 to private hospitals. Meanwhile, 126 patients were discharged from government hospitals and 97 from private facilities after full recovery. The report also confirmed two dengue-related deaths in the past 24 hours.
Currently, 210 patients are receiving treatment in government hospitals and 183 in private hospitals across Sindh. A total of 976 dedicated beds for dengue patients have been allocated in government hospitals—256 in Karachi, 155 in Hyderabad, and 565 in other districts.
Similarly, 406 beds have been set aside in private hospitals, including 156 in Karachi, 184 in Hyderabad, and 66 in other parts of Sindh.
The Health Secretary further informed that 36 laboratories in Karachi, including 11 government and 25 private, are conducting dengue tests, while 17 laboratories—6 government and 11 private—are operational in Hyderabad Division.
He reiterated that the Health Department continues round-the-clock surveillance and vector-control measures to curb the spread of dengue across the province
