KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, chaired the second review meeting on the implementation of the “Faceless E-Ticketing System” and compliance with the new traffic regulations across the province.

Addressing district traffic officers, the IGP directed strict enforcement of the new traffic laws, particularly against vehicles operating without number plates and other major violations. He emphasized that the new set of traffic fines is applicable uniformly throughout Sindh.
According to the revised rules, 50 categories of traffic violations now carry fines of up to Rs. 5,000, with a 50% concession available for payments made within 14 days — reducing the payable amount to Rs. 2,000–2,500. However, delayed payments will attract incremental penalties despite prior warnings and awareness campaigns.
The IGP further instructed that public awareness and education campaigns be intensified across all districts to encourage compliance with traffic laws. He also directed the establishment of Traffic Facilitation Centers in each district to handle citizen complaints.
Briefing the meeting, DIG Traffic Karachi informed that 59 types of violations are currently being monitored and fined, with only nine considered major offenses subject to fines exceeding Rs. 5,000. These include one-way violations, underage driving, wheelies, drifting, driving without lights, unregistered vehicles, reckless driving, signal jumping, and illegal overtaking.
The briefing clarified that social-media reports linking heavy-vehicle fines to motorcycles or cars are misleading. In Karachi alone, 11 Facilitation Centers have been established where SPs, CPLC representatives, and traffic officers will address public complaints. The complaint resolution period will not be counted toward the fine-payment deadline.
Traffic-violation notifications are being issued through Pakistan Post, SMS, and a dedicated mobile application. Additionally, with the support of the Karachi district administration, road-safety initiatives are being launched starting today.
The meeting, held at the Central Police Office Karachi, was attended by Additional IGPs of Karachi, Welfare, Training, and Safe City projects, along with DIGs of Headquarters, Highways, Establishment, and Traffic. Divisional DIGs and district SSPs participated via video link on the occasion.
