Independent Report: The Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Killi Charmiyan has a complete medical staff and a five-bed ward where IPV vaccines are administered daily to children. However, despite its functional capacity, the facility is facing an acute shortage of medicines, local sources confirmed.

Previously, under the BHCIP project, medicines worth Rs 600,000 were provided every six months, but since the project ended, the responsibility has shifted to PPHI. Now, PPHI supplies medicines once every two months, which run out within 40 days due to the high outpatient load exceeding 1,200 patients per month.

The population of Killi Charmiyan has now crossed 12,000 residents, which qualifies the BHU to be categorized as an A-category health facility. However, due to unupdated population data, it still remains under B-category classification.

Residents have urged the authorities to upgrade the BHU to A-category and ensure timely and sufficient supply of medicines to meet the healthcare needs of the growing population.
