MIRPUR MATHELO, Nov 6:
At least six people were killed and several others, including a woman and children, sustained critical injuries in a violent clash between the Shar, Selro, and Dahundhu tribes in the Ubauro area of Ghotki district on Wednesday.
According to reports, dozens of armed men from the Shar tribe launched a heavy attack on the houses of the Selro and Dahundhu tribes, using automatic weapons and machine guns. The fierce exchange of fire resulted in the deaths of six individuals identified as Hamid Selro, Ibrahim Selro, Suba Khan Selro, Haji Selro, Ayaz Dahundhu, and Ali Gohar Dahundhu.
The conflict, reportedly sparked by a dispute over the occupation of government agricultural land belonging to the Forest Department, has been ongoing for several months. Sources said that the feud has so far claimed more than 60 lives from both sides.
Following the incident, a heavy contingent of police, supported by Pakistan Rangers, cordoned off the area and launched a joint operation against the armed tribesmen. Law enforcement officials set several criminal hideouts ablaze and are conducting search operations to apprehend the culprits.
Tragically, a policeman, Amjad Dargh, was martyred during the exchange of fire with dacoits, while another officer, Khalil Leghari, sustained serious injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar took immediate notice of the incident, sought a detailed report from the Sindh Inspector General of Police, and directed the authorities to arrest those responsible.
Fear and panic have gripped the area, with residents remaining confined to their homes amid continuous gunfire. Police and Rangers remain deployed to stabilize the situation and prevent further violence.
