Balochistan Education Minister Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani Attends Inter-School Hockey Tournament Finals, Awards Winning Students

Quetta, November 9, 2025: Balochistan’s Provincial Education Minister, Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani, graced the finals of the Inter-School Hockey Tournament held in connection with Defence Day and distributed awards and medals to the outstanding players.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Durrani emphasized that promoting sports in educational institutions is among her top priorities. She stated, “I want schools to integrate extracurricular activities, especially sports, alongside formal education as a compulsory part of the curriculum.”
Highlighting the provincial government’s focus on developing sports across Balochistan, she said that, in line with the Chief Minister’s vision, efforts are being made to bring a wide range of sports to remote areas. The Minister expressed pride in hockey being Pakistan’s national game and shared that she herself had the honor of playing hockey in the past.
Minister Durrani lauded the provincial Hockey Federation and school management for organizing the tournament efficiently. She also assured stakeholders that the proposals and demands presented regarding sports development would be given due consideration.
Underlining the social importance of sports, she remarked that engaging youth in sporting activities is one of the most effective ways to ensure their physical and mental well-being. “We want to establish as many sports grounds as possible across the province to ensure that our young generation remains healthy, active, and disciplined,” she said.
She further highlighted a crucial social concern, stating that attracting young people to sports is the most effective strategy to protect them from negative influences, including drugs and other harmful activities.
The ceremony saw enthusiastic participation from school students, teachers, and notable local figures, reflecting the community’s growing interest in sports and youth development programs.
