Quetta, November 9, 2025: Former Pakistani Ambassador Nawabzada Aminullah Khan Raisani, who served in Lebanon, Syria, Oman, and as High Commissioner to Cyprus, met with Honorary Japanese Consul General for Quetta, Syed Nadeem Alam Shah, to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Japan. Dr. Talha Shah was also present during the meeting.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on promoting human resource exchange programs, leveraging Japan’s expertise in information technology and digital transformation, and enhancing collaboration in trade, investment, climate change mitigation, energy, and people-to-people relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Raisani congratulated Shinzo Takayuchi on becoming Japan’s first female Prime Minister, expressing optimism that under her leadership, Japan would achieve new milestones of progress while further strengthening longstanding ties with Pakistan. He emphasized that Japan would continue to play a constructive role in supporting Pakistan’s development and prosperity.

Ambassador Raisani highlighted Pakistan’s potential for economic growth, stating, “Pakistan should adopt a trade-focused policy rather than aid-dependency. Through strategic economic diplomacy, Pakistan can emerge as an Asian Tiger. Ample opportunities exist for foreign investors, and if Pakistani diplomats worldwide perform their duties with diligence and integrity, Pakistan can overcome foreign debt challenges and achieve sustainable economic strength.”

Reflecting on his diplomatic experience, Ambassador Raisani underscored Japan’s model as a global example of economic, technological, and social development, where material progress is harmonized with respect for human values. He recommended that Pakistan benefit from Japan’s disaster management expertise, including preparedness and rehabilitation measures for earthquakes, floods, and other natural calamities, to enhance national resilience.

In response, Honorary Consul General Syed Nadeem Alam Shah praised Japan’s rapid post-World War II development as a global benchmark. He emphasized that Pakistan’s federal and provincial governments are adopting Japanese models and technology across sectors including economy, education, healthcare, police reforms, water and sewage treatment, traffic systems, environment, and urban infrastructure, aiming to bring modern, sustainable reforms to the country.
